Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the situations that can occur during sales:

Bidding on a lot for which there is no previous bid 

At the right of your screen, you can enter :

• Starting bid
  The minimum amount you are willing to pay for this lot. This amount must be equal to or greater than the opening bid indicated in the description.
• Maximum bid
  The maximum amount you are willing to pay for this lot. The system will automatically bid for you until another user exceeds this amount.

Then click on “Bid”. If your bid is accepted, you will receive an email indicating your starting and maximum bids for confirmation.

Bidding on a lot for which there has already been a bid

You can enter a bid in

• Your starting bid must be higher than the minimum price set for the lot.
• Your maximum bid must be equal to or greater than your starting bid.

Then click on “Bid”.

Bids accepted

If your bids are accepted, you will receive an email to confirm the bids. You will then be the highest bidder for this lot.

Bids refused

If your bids are refused because another user has entered a maximum bid that is higher than yours, a message to that effect will appear on the screen and you will be invited you to make a higher bid. 

You bid and you are the highest bidder 

You are the lot’s buyer as long as no other user makes a bid higher than your maximum bid.

Your maximum bid is exceeded by another user 

If another user makes a bid that is higher than your maximum bid, you lose the lot. An email to that effect will be sent to you and you will be invited to make a higher bid.

You can also check the sale catalogue to see if your buyer number is still shown as the current buyer of the lot. You can also consult the bidding history and click on your buyer number (see image below).

It is your responsibility to check your email or our website periodically to keep track of the bidding.

Another user bids the same amount as your maximum bid 

If another user bids the same amount as your maximum bid, you have priority since you made your bid first. 

You want to raise your maximum bid after bidding on the lot 

Simply enter your new bid under:  starting bid or maximum bid.

Then click on “Bid”.  

The system will recognize you as the highest bidder and correct your maximum bid without changing the current bid
